How to get on a canal cruise?
You can use your City Card to enjoy a canal cruise at all major canal tour operators in Amsterdam. There is no need to book ahead. Find a departure location near you and hop on a canal boat at a time that suits you. Find departure locations here.
How to use public transport in Amsterdam?
The City Card is valid on all transport by GVB. You can recognize the GVB by the blue logo. The GVB operates the bus, tram, metro, and ferry lines in Amsterdam. The night bus is also included. You can use a physical or a digital City Card to check in and out of public transport.
Use your City Card for public transport in 2 simple steps
1. Simply tap your card against the card reader when you get into a GVB bus, tram or metro. Please note that if you haven’t activated your card beforehand, using your card to check in will activate it. After activation, the card is valid for 24, 48, 72, 96 or 120 hours, depending on the duration of the card of your choice.
2. Don’t forget to check out with the card before you exit by tapping the card against the card reader once more.

When you choose the digital City Card you can upload your City Card to the app and use your smartphone to visit museums, attractions, and public transport.
